Sycamore Willow

Julian Vu
Multi-instrumentalist Julian Vu can’t make up their mind, and honestly why should they. Calling from a diverse palate of musical styles, Julian creates music from folk to disco to yacht rock to experimental electronic and everything in between. Jules (as they’re sometimes called) likes to live somewhere between ‘69 and ‘87 stylistically and is most influenced by AM gold. Although Julian sometimes records under the pseudonym “Jammaster Vu”, here at the songwriters circle, it’s strictly just ‘Julian’ or ‘Jules’. They hope to one day complete a song.....maybe.

Hayley Struthers
Hayley Struthers is a singer-songwriter based in San Francisco, Ca. She has always been drawn to dreamy music, music stripped down to just a voice and guitar, her earliest influences being her Dad, Skip Struthers and Mazzy Star. Hayley has been singing and playing guitar for over 20 years but is somewhat new to the recording and performing world. Melodies are always making their way into her head especially while in nature and she tries her best to bring those melodies to life.

Umed Sharifov
Umed is a singer-songwriter and lyricist who writes songs inspired by real moments from his life. His music often reflects on loss and reflection, but with a sense of humor and lightness, because even the sad stories come with a few smiles. He’s grateful to be part of the Songwriter Circle and Sealevel.

Benjamin Cohen
I’ve been playing guitar (and occasionally drums) in SF bands for some time, including Pop-O-Pies, Tanks, Smashed Weekend, Polkacide, Sister Double Happiness & El Destroyo. I released my own album in 2014, available on Spotify. Lately I’ve turned down the volume to focus on solo acoustic guitar-based music.

John Furtado
John Furtado is a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from Seattle, WA. He’s lived in San Francisco for nearly a decade and happy to call it home. His music is delicate and personal, on themes of the heart, the mind, family, and belonging and influence from Wyatt artists ranging from Springsteen to Sufjan to Sigur Rós.

Jack Cavanaugh
Jack Cavanaugh currently writes and performs original children’s music in San Francisco. For the Sealevel Benefit Concert, he is reuniting with Mark Humphrey—his longtime partner in the comedic musical duo, Chronic Pleasure.

Greta Dooley
Greta Dooley is a San Francisco-based singer-songwriter, recently reconnecting with the city after spending a few years in Santa Barbara. Though she loves performing, Greta’s recent interest in composition combines influence from indie alternative music and bedroom pop with heartfelt-storytelling vocals.

Howard Green
Howard Green first picked up the guitar over 30 years ago in his native New York City. He picked it up again a decade ago to perform in band workshops at the legendary Blue Bear Music School in his adopted San Francisco and started composing original songs a couple of years later. He has performed with bands and as a solo artist at venues all over the Bay Area, including The Boom Boom Room, O’Reillys, Music City, The Riptide, and Winter’s Tavern in Pacifica. Howard enjoys writing narrative songs in the indie-folk-rock tradition, spotlighting offbeat characters and casting an askew perspective on this strange world in which we dwell.
A longtime participant in the songwriter’s circle and open mic hosted at Sealevel, Howard would like to thank Jeana, Frances, all of the wonderful fellow artists and creatives who have come together to create and foster this one-of-a-kind community and creative incubator, and is honored to support this space for many years to come.
