Andrea Gaffney is a San Francisco-based landscape architecture photographer and urban design educator whose work focuses on stories of resilience, restoration, and reconciliation. Her pinhole/cyanotype work moves beyond traditional documentary photography into the realm of sensorial testimony about ecological entanglement. Her images are made in and of landscapes and ecosystems impacted by climate change. She loves to walk along Ocean Beach with her dog Walnut looking for sea creatures.

Christine Huhn is a visual artist, educator, and cultural heritage professional who grew up in northeastern Pennsylvania, less than five miles from the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area. This connection to the landscape has deeply influenced her work, which focuses on preserving cultural landscapes through film photography and historic photographic processes. She received her bachelor of fine arts in photography from the State University of New York at New Paltz and her master of arts in historic preservation from Savannah College of Art and Design. Her work has been included in solo and group exhibitions nationally. She has been awarded artist residencies at Mojave National Preserve, Santa Fe Art Institute, and Joshua Tree National Park. Christine currently lives in San Francisco, CA.

Colby Condon (b. 2003, San Francisco, California) is an emerging artist based in San Francisco. This spring, she earned her BA in art from the University of California, Santa Barbara's College of Creative Studies. Colby is drawn to cityscapes and architecture, and the bright colors and hilly landscapes of San Francisco are particularly inspirational to her painting practice. Colby has displayed her work in several galleries around Santa Barbara and Los Angeles, and is excited to join the Bay Area art scene.

I paint skyscapes of the places I travel to and the neighborhoods I live in to celebrate the majesty and mystery around me.

Over the past 21 years, I've lived in seven SF neighborhoods. Now in the Outer Richmond, I've been enamored with the fog and views from from Sutro Park, Lands End, Golden Gate Park, The Sunset, and Ocean Beach. 

I start most of my paintings outside on my bike easel. I try to capture the way the light changes the colors of the fog and clouds moving through the neighborhood during the day and the wallop of awe I feel. And I hope the person looking at my paintings feels it too.

Diane Presler has been involved in art and design from an early age. Her work is informed by a childhood spent wandering in the woods and ponds of northern Ohio, sketchbook in hand. Diane has provided graphic design services in the Bay Area since the late ‘80s, and currently is focused on design education and pursuing her passion for painting and drawing.

Diane's vibrant water media paintings focus on nature and our local environment. She creates memorable pet portraits, California native botanical art, and local cityscapes.

Diane is an instructor at City College of San Francisco, teaching Web Production in the Visual Media Department. She holds a B.S. in Graphic Design from the University of Cincinnati and has studied painting and printmaking at the renowned San Francisco Art Institute.

Gillian Ashenfelter lives in San Francisco and teaches high school biology and marine ecology. She enjoys careful observation of the natural world and communicating science through art. Much of her current work is inspired by exploration of the bay area. 

Description of the piece: "Wrackline Etchings" are three ceramic pieces thrown on the wheel and then each has been textured and glazed in slightly different ways - reminding me of the way the sand is etched at the wrackline by the waves. They hang together as a set of three on a wall indoors or outdoors.

San Francisco artist, poet, and educator Irman Arcibal immerses himself in the concepts of interaction and synchronicity. His visual art involves drawing and related processes; his poems incorporate rhythmic rambling, musical wordplay and crafted chronicle of sensory experience. He earned his Art Studio MFA from UC Davis, after a Bachelor’s in Biological Sciences at Cal Poly SLO. The Bay Area native also studied art & poetry at Solano College, and teaches traditional visual arts at a San Francisco high school.

I am a dabbler in various from of photography, print making, drawing and painting. I am a 40 year resident San Francisco originally from England. The last 25 years I have been a resident of The Sunset which has been a great inspiration for my art.

Everybody knows—"SUNSET RULES!"—and we are all so fortunate to live here. I try to capture some of its beauty and magic in my paintings.

Kirsten is a fine art photographer based in San Francisco. Her photographic work spans diverse subjects and genres — from abstract to landscapes to portraits to street photography. She seeks to convey the unique and dreamy way she sees the world around her. She’s best known for using motion blur and layering techniques to create a painterly, surreal, or cinematic quality in her images. Kirsten has been making, exhibiting, and selling her photography for over 25 years.

KT Carney is a multidisciplinary artist living and working in the Outer Sunset. She has been making jewelry and accessories under the brand Cody Ferris since 2013 with a focus on hand-sawed metal and acrylic works. Most recently she has turned her attention to Japanese glass seed beads, experimenting with bold colors and patterns.

These canvas works are the newest evolution of color and pattern, combining acrylic painting with bead weaving. The beaded elements are created off loom and then attached to the canvas instead of directly embroidering.

Lucy is a multidisciplinary artist living in the Outer Sunset. She is currently studying painting at RISD, and is interested in depicting urban landscapes and human interaction.

I am an Outer Sunset neighbor who is an artist, activist and witch. My pieces are called Elemental Assemblages. They are made from secondhand and recycled items which are usually staged on old boxes and drawers.

Mary Pendleton is a Pacifica artist with strong ties to the Sunset. Most of her work focuses on linocut printmaking, but she also works in acrylic and oil pastel. In addition to being a mom of three and working full time, she runs an art mail club called The Coastal Post.

Michele de la Menardiere is an abstract painter based in San Francisco, California. She has exhibited her work in national and international galleries and her paintings are part of private and corporate collections including the DC Commission for the Arts and Humanities, Nokia, and the Ritz Carlton.

Michele’s art has also been acquired by the U.S. State Department’s Art in Embassies Program and is part of several public art projects including a large-scale installation at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Arlington, VA.

Her paintings have been featured in prominent media outlets such as The Washington Post, on the set of KQED’s Check Please! Bay Area, and in Sotheby’s residential projects.

Michele is a graduate of Chelsea College of Art and Design in London, England.

Mikaela works primarily in acrylic on canvas and natural paper, painting the coastal landscapes that soothe her. She uses loose, urgent brushwork to capture the motion of the water, sky, and the light’s reflection. At their core, her paintings are an invitation to slow down.

My work expresses what I find beautiful and of interest, mostly nature and landscapes. My recent body of tapestries and collage evolve from imagery collected on morning walks in Golden Gate Park. I work with string and yarn, ink, paper and glue to illustrate my experiences guided by initial photographs and further experimentation.

Nicole Samarron is a multidisciplinary artist based in the Outer Sunset neighborhood of San Francisco, California. She earned her BFA in Fine Art with a focus in photography from the University of San Francisco and the Academy of Art University. Following her studies, she transitioned into a career as an Academy Award-winning Visual Effects artist for major motion pictures. While creative storytelling has always been her core passion, a desire to step away from the digital screen and work with her hands led her to ceramics nine years ago. Today, she embraces a tactile, highly present approach to creation by molding clay with her fingertips as a language to connect with the outside world. In her current ceramic work, the Sunset neighborhood takes center stage as the main character, while San Francisco and the surrounding Bay Area provide the supporting cast and backdrop.

Rachel T Robertson is a San Francisco artist who has equal passion for fine art as well as craft. Working in both two and three dimensions, Rachel creates pieces with depth, texture and simplicity. In her fine art, she focuses primarily on mixed media works that include watercolor, drawing, collage and fiber.

My work is informed through my memories, dreams, interests, and my fears as well. The forms and colors are the manifestations of my thoughts working in the studio. I’m interested in what the unconscious brings to the surface of the work.  

I approach the work from all sides, not having a fixed orientation allows me the freedom of leaving the work open to dictate to me what it will finally be.

Sean Silk is an interdisciplinary artist living in the Outer Sunset District of San Francisco, California. His work focuses on the movements of natural light and the symbiotic relationship between time and change. Through the concept of atmospheric euphoria, Sean's work invites his audience to be emotionally consumed by environmental abstraction.

I am drawn to the extraordinary that I see in everyday people and everyday life.

I practice the technical and meditative process of capturing un-staged moments; none of my images are contrived or composited. I do not use Photoshop or AI.

I am preoccupied with the blink of reality when a gesture flicks, a light escapes a shadow, an expression emerges, and the magic of photographer, camera, and moment, meet.

In knowing that my images are decisive moments, I hope you feel invited to pause and look closer, to wonder further, and to see these types of moments all around you.

Steven Starfas is an artist who works in mixed media, photography, painting and sculpture. He was born in Ventura, California in 1975. He graduated in May 1999 with a B.F.A. in photography at the San Francisco Art Institute. He lives and works in the Sunset district of San Francisco.

Wendy Fuchs creates paintings that explore emotion, memory, movement, and personal connection through bold color and layered texture. Her work invites viewers to bring their own experiences and interpretations to each piece. In her surfboard series, Fuchs explores the energy and nostalgia of the ocean, celebrating the sense of freedom, adventure, and connection that draws us to the sea.

Yvonne Martínez is a native Californian, and outer sunset transplant. She is endlessly inspired by the past, present, and future of this neighborhood’s ever-changing landscape. She’s interested in the process of capturing a digital photo, and investigating what happens as that image is translated back into the physical world, through a textile medium. Knitting is used as a means to document the collaboration between the tangible and the ephemeral. The types of images we collect and keep fascinate her, and she looks to examine what it means to publicly immortalize a fleeting moment.
