Thursday, June 20 / 7 PM - 9 PM
Hosted by Frances England
This this group will evolve as we go, but at its core, this will be a safe and welcoming community-building space for songwriters to learn, inspire, encourage and motivate one another. All genres and musical experience levels are invited to participate.
For those curious about what the evening will look like, we’ll start with introductions around the question of what draws us to songwriting and then listen / respond to a few excerpts on song crafting from legendary songwriters Joni Mitchell, Kendrick Lamar, and Jeff Tweedy. Next, we’ll have a song share segment where we can play songs we are working on (finished or unfinished). We’ll have a keyboard and guitar at Sealevel for people to use or you can bring your own. If your computer is your instrument, feel free to bring a recording. We’ll end the evening with an optional songwriting prompt for the next session.
Playing original work can feel scary but please know this will be a small, intimate gathering for sharing songs with one another. Songwriters need each other and this will be a place for us to be both vulnerable and brave together. It will also be a place to geek out and learn about each other’s creative process. Space is limited, so please sign up with the link below.
This meet-up is free with RSVP. If you enjoy our programming, we invite you to become Sealevel Kin by pledging a monthly contribution. Your support helps offset monthly expenses and comes with perks! LEARN MORE HERE!
